PROFILE

Named one of the Top 100 Women of Influence by the Australian Financial Review, Melanie’s work explores the intersection of design, technology, health, disability and education. She specialises in human-centred design, digital design and strategy, and service design through her role as a Manager in the Digital, Design and Data sector at Nous Group.

Melanie’s work is underpinned by her passion to drive innovative social change through creativity and technology. She is currently undertaking her PhD research at Torrens University to explore how human-centred design and technology can be leveraged to improve patient experience for young people in emergency departments at children’s hospitals.

As a Board of Director at the International Youth Foundation, Melanie brings deep sector knowledge and expertise in youth leadership and social entrepreneurship. Her expertise allows her to bring together unique perspectives to create opportunities for young leaders globally to shape a better future in employment, education and healthcare through the lens of inclusion, diversity and equality.

Melanie’s work and influence have been recognised nationally and globally through the Laureate Global Fellowship, Laureate Global Here for Good Award, Recalibrate Gender Equality Award and Distinguish Social Change Leader Award.

Following her success, Melanie has become a sought-after international public speaker. Some events she has presented at include Vogue Codes Summit, She’s on the Money International Women’s Day Conference, TEDxYouth@Sydney, TEDxSydney Pitch Night, Women in Leadership Symposium, Laureate Global Leadership Summit, Reimagination Thought Leaders Summit at the Australian Computer Society, the United States Sustainable Development Goals Action Zone Conference and a keynote at Google, opening their first ever Asia Pacific UX Design Summit.
